FEB 29 DeMarcus Ware To Challenge Cowboys' Tony Romo At Celebrity Golf Tournament

Dallas Cowboys legend and Pro Football Hall of Fame member DeMarcus Ware will make his return to the golf course at the Invited Celebrity Classic in Las Colinas this spring. The nine-time Pro Bowl selection will compete against his former Cowboys teammate Tony Romo.

In 2023, as onlookers held their breath, former Dallas All-Pro quarterback Romo mounted an incredible final-round comeback to become the Invited Celebrity Classic Golf champion.

This spring, Romo is back to defend his title against an impressive celebrity field, highlighted by Ware, former MLB All-Star pitcher Roger Clemons, former NFL All-Pro running back Reggie Bush and pro football hall of famer Tim Brown.

“I am looking forward to the opportunity to defend my title in the 2024 Invited Celebrity Classic presented by Choctaw Casinos & Resorts next April,” Romo said. "The most exciting thing is the significant charitable impact in our community.”

The tournament will support two North Texas youth charities this year: Momentous Institute, and the First Tee Greater Dallas and First Tee Fort Worth. In its first two years, the tournament has generated nearly $500,000 in charitable donations and the economic impact is estimated at nearly $3 million for the greater Dallas area.

Ware, who played nine of his 12 NFL seasons with the Dallas Cowboys before winning a Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos, was added to the team's Ring of Honor this season . Ware led the Cowboys in sacks for eight seasons.

While the Cowboys are prepping for the NFL Draft on April 25–27, fans can watch Ware and Romo free of charge for all three days of competition .

JAN 31 Travis Kelce to propose to Taylor Swift at Super Bowl? Here are the odds.

One of the most-followed NFL storylines of this season is the budding relationship between mega-pop star Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

The reigning Super Bowl champion Chiefs will look to defend their title against the San Francisco 49ers on Feb. 11 in Las Vegas. Swift will likely be there, although she does have a quick turnaround from her final Era's Tour show in Tokyo to get there.

Could this romance apex with Kelce down on one knee after the Super Bowl?

The odds are slim, with "no" being a heavy favorite at the moment. The "yes" option is currently listed at +1120, with the negatory at -3500. The current odds imply that there is an eight-percent chance of an on-field proposal with a 92-percent chance it won’t happen.

Then again. You never know with this love story.

Also, the odds are only available in Canada. No legal American sportsbook will host any Taylor Swift props for the Super Bowl. The Niners are the current ly picked to win the Super Bowl , so the odds are stacked against Kelce's Chiefs in more ways than one.

Swift has supported Kelce by attending 12 Chiefs games this season, sitting in suites with family members of the team. The two exchanged a sweet embrace on the field after the Chiefs beat the Baltimore Ravens to punch their ticket to the Super Bowl.

    JAN 30 SEATS FOR SOLDIERS

Typically, it is Luka Doncic who catapults the crowd into cheers at the American Airlines Center. However, on Monday night the standing ovation went to our nation's heroes.

The Dallas Mavericks honored more than 100 service members, including wounded, ill, and hospitalized individuals, to sit courtside for the 17th annual 'Seats for Soldiers' night.

Among the service members cheering on Luka Doncic and the Mavs was John Wayne Walding. Walding served in the military for the majority of his adult life, including seven years in the prestigious 3rd Special Forces Group, colloquially known as the Green Berets.

Walding was deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2008, he was shot and lost his right leg. While wounded, he continued to fight alongside his squad for four hours and for his bravery has received the Silver Star Medal, the Bronze Star Medal and a Purple Heart.

"Never underestimate the magnitude of what those two words mean to a veteran: Thank you," Walding in an exclusive interview. "At the end of the day, no matter what you do, you have to ask your self, is this worth it? I start and end my day in a wheelchair, every day. Every day I am reminded of what to true cost of freedom is."

Since the amputation, John has run multiple marathons and he became the first amputee to graduate Green Beret Sniper School.

JAN 25 Troy Aikman EXCLUSIVE: Advice for Dak Prescott

The Dalals Cowboys were ousted in the first round of the NFL Playoffs by the underdog Green Bay Packers, leaving the Hall of Famer Troy Aikman stunned, as he detailed in an exclusive interview with Bri Amaranthus.

The three-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback knows better than anyone that Cowboys signal-caller Dak Prescott is - fairly or not - shouldering the brunt of the blame.

"I am a big fan of Dak. I still believe his best days are ahead of him," Aikman said. "I know from experience that until you win, the questions of whether you can win will always exist. People who say you can't - (and) they are right, until you do it. And then you don't have to hear about it anymore.

"I know it is important to him. One of the reasons I have so much respect from his is that he doesn't shy away from that. He's been very open that all that matters is Super Bowls... I am hopeful that he is able to do it and I believe that he will. But this was a missed opportunity this year."

And, with a chuckle, some advice for Dak? "Get away! Get away from everybody and regroup.''

JAN 8 HEAD COACHES FIRED ON BLACK MONDAY

Some of the NFL head coaching hot seats are now empty seats. On 'Black Monday,' the Washington Commanders fired coach Ron Rivera and the Atlanta Falcons fired coach Arthur Smith.

New Commanders owners Josh Harris and Magic Johnson made a splash in an attempt to turn the franchise around, hiring former Golden State Warriors GM Bob Myers to help with its coaching search. Washington has the No. 2 overall selection in the NFL Draft.

Will New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick be the next domino to fall?

Other coaches who lost their jobs this season include: Las Vegas Raiders' Josh McDaniels, Carolina Panthers' Frank Reich and Los Angeles Chargers' Brandon Staley. Additionally, two general managers, the Raiders' Dave Ziegler and the Chargers' Tom Telesco, were let go earlier in the season, as was the Panthers' Scott Fitterer on Monday.

JAN 2 DAN QUINN ADDRESSES HIRING RUMORS

It's no secret that Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn turned down head coaching opportunities last offseason. This offseason, NFL teams will again try to hire the highly-regarded coordinator away from Dallas.

Already he's been linked to openings with the Carolina Panthers and Los Angeles Chargers.

But as Quinn has established in his actions over the last two offseasons, another part of this coaching carousel is not inevitable: Quinn might not leave. He felt he had "unfinished business" in Dallas for this season.

"If and when that time gets called,'' Quinn said of his candidacy for a move, "I would certainly be ready to discuss that at a moment's notice.''

"I think it's important to know how to compartmentalize," Quinn said. "Fortunately for me in that space, any preparation you would do on that is done over the summertime. It's pretty easy these days to compartmentalize.''

And once he and his representatives have that stashed away? Eventually, Quinn can deal with the rumors and realities of other situations. For now, he's trying to win bring a Super Bowl back to Dallas.

NOV 30 ARREST WARRANT ISSUED FOR VON MILLER Per WFAA, an arrest warrant has been issued for Buffalo Bills edge rusher Von Miller, whose longtime girlfriend accused him of domestic violence in their Dallas home on Wednesday morning. Miller is facing charges of assaulting a pregnant person, a third-degree felony charge.

Miller, 34, is in the midst of his second season with the Bills and returned home to Texas as the team is engaged in its Week 13 bye week. He had not officially been arrested as of Thursday morning.

NOV 10 BRADY’S GOT JOKES In what could become the first meeting of two greats, NFL legend Tom Brady and San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama finally got their chance to meet one another.

The introduction came during a dinner in New York, where the quarterback was seen posing for a picture with the unusually tall (7-4!) rookie.

The original picture was different than the one Brady shared on social media, however.

“Media outlets asking for permission to use this photo. Yes you may, here is the file,” Brady wrote jokingly. “Disregard other photoshopped images of me and Victor.”

The photo featured both athletes almost equal in height, which comes across as normal at first glance. But while the true height difference wasn’t accurate, the smiles between the two certainly were.

“I really liked the vibe from him,” Wembanyama said of Brady. “[He’s] very humble and interesting, but also interested in other people. … He just looks like he is happy with the life he’s got, and he makes other people around happy.”

NOV 9 ODD EARL THOMAS CASE Former Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas has been entangled in some weird stories over the years ... and here comes another.

Thomas, who last played in the NFL in 2020, is allegedly the victim in an identity theft scheme  orchestrated by a man named Kevin J. Thompson ... who happens to be the boyfriend of Thomas' ex-wife, Nina Thomas .

Thompson allegedly stole up to $1.9 million from Thomas after using the former All-Pro's identity to cash NFL checks and steal money from his bank account, among other things.

Thompson is facing charges of “including identity theft, forgery, money laundering, credit card fraud, computer fraud and bank fraud. His bond is reportedly set at $730,000.

NOV 7 IS STRAHAN OK? Former NFL superstar Michael Strahan has been absent from ABC's "Good Morning America'' for two weeks now, and fans who have been wondering why now have an answer of sorts.

The New York Giants Hall of Famer is, ABC has announced, dealing with a personal family matter.

“Michael Strahan will not be with us this week as he is dealing with some personal family matters,” a network spokesperson said in a statement on Monday. “We appreciate everyone’s thoughts and concerns.”

Strahan has become a TV fixture on the "NFL on FOX'' and then alongside Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, Lara Spencer and Ginger Zee on the morning show.

OCT 24 SAINTS STAR ARRESTED New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave was arrested on Monday in Louisiana for reckless operation of a motor vehicle. Olave was driving 70 mph in a 35 mph zone, according to police.

Olave, 23, is a second-year player from Ohio State who was selected in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Saints with the No. 11 overall pick. He had a 1,000-yard season as a rookie and this year for the Saints has 39 receptions for 471 yards and a touchdown.

OCT 21 STEPHEN A. SMITH AND 'VIBRATORS'?? Maybe we're wrong to write about this in the "NFL Trouble'' section because "First Take" shock jock Stephen A. Smith has gained such power at ESPN that maybe nothing can truly get him in "trouble.''

But in our judgment, his inappropriate remarks directed toward co-host Molly Qerim are worthy of mention. And we think Qerim agrees with us.

It seems that during an NFL segment - not an area of Smith's particular expertise, which is why his mind might've wandered - he realized her phone was ringing. ... at which time he launched into a weird rant about Qerim's phone "vibrating.''

Molly Qerim and Stephen A. Smith

"Vibrating!'' Smith said, talking over Qerim as she attempted to steer him back toward civility. "I tried to say 'ring.' Do you want me to say 'vibrating' on the air? You always like me to mention vibrating on the air when it's your phone! You really want me to do that? You want me to say 'vibrating with your phone'? Just go with the ring, Molly. I'm trying to avoid the vibrating."

Qerim seemed uncomfortable with Smith's comments, and when she was finally able to get in a word edge-wise replied, "This isn't the Stephen A. Smith Show on YouTube."

At the same time, we sense that Smith and Qerim are friendly. And hey, "inappropriate'' is good for ratings, right?

OCT 17 WEIRD T.O. 'CAR ACCIDENT' Pro Football Hall of Famer Terrell Owens was struck by a vehicle in California on Monday for the weirdest reason: Police seem to think the incident was an intentional act instead of an accident. ... and is the result of a "beef'' having to do with a pickup basketball game.

A male driver of a vehicle reportedly steered his a toward Owens - the former Dallas Cowboys star and controversial Pro Football Hall of Famer - and hit Owens.

The legendary wide receiver apparently didn't suffer severe injuries and also declined medical attention, according to law enforcement officials.

OCT 12 TOO MUCH ROMANCE The Buffalo Bills have fired two front office executives who are involved in a romantic relationship.

Bills COO John Roth and senior VP/general counsel Kathryn D’Angelo have been fired because D’Angelo reports to Roth. … with ownership deeming the relationship therefore being unethical.

OCT 10 SAD AND STRANGE The saga surrounding Las Vegas Raiders, and former New England Patriots , defensive end Chandler Jones continues to fall deeper into unfortunate circumstances.

The Raiders recently revealed that they are releasing the troubled defensive end Jones, putting a temporary — and perhaps permanent end to the on-field career of the standout player … who now needs to find answers beyond football.

Jones was arrested last month in Las Vegas after a tragic week that included multiple posts to social media alleging a series of bizarre conspiratorial accusations.

At one point, Jones insisted that his issues are due to Raiders owner Mark Davis harboring secrets about child molestation.

“Once I found out what was done to this little girl,” Jones posted, “I wasn’t allowed back in the building.”

He continued (while later claiming his account was “hacked”) …

"You can call me whatever you want, CTE, a dumb football player, dumb black man.. whatever y’all want, keyboard warriors. Meanwhile our children are getting molested. That’s why I couldn’t get a sack today. Because ppl wanted to [rape] my step daughter and not expect me to get upset.”

Jones also made inferences via a social media video posting — in which Jones was visibly sobbing at times — regarding Raiders coach [and former Patriots coordinator] Josh McDaniels’ alleged involvement into the death of former Pats tight end Aaron Hernandez.
