MARCH 19 DEMARCUS WARE HEADLINES CHARITY EVENT

A select few of Dallas' finest athletes traded in their football and baseball fields for the Dallas Stars' ice at American Airlines Center for charity on Monday.

Pro Football Hall-of-Famers Tim Brown and DeMarcus Ware, and National Baseball Hall-of-Famer Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez, teed off in a friendly golf shot-making competition. The result was laughs and high-fives galore at media day for the Invited Celebrity Classic golf tournament.

The putting challenge was won by "team football," led by Ware and Brown. The real winners were the children who joined the former professional athletes on the ice, members of the Momentous Institute, First Tee Greater Dallas ,and First Tee Fort Worth, who were awarded $10,000 in total.

In its first two years, the Invited Celebrity Classic has generated nearly $500,000 in charitable donations and the economic impact is estimated at nearly $3 million for the greater Dallas area.

"It's free (to attend) ... Fans can come out to get a laugh or an autograph. When you can change someone's day with just a smile, that is the reason why I do it," said Ware. "To do something good for the community. Raising money and changing some of these young kids lives."

MARCH 12 DCC VISITS SOUTH KOREA MILITARY BASES

The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders teamed up with the USO to bring joy to service members, visiting four military bases across South Korea in late February: Camp Walker, Camp Humphreys, Camp Casey and Camp Bonifas.

In addition to performing, the DCC hosted a youth cheer clinic and meet and greets with service members and families. This year marked the 85 ^th tour in which the Cowboys cheerleaders have joined forces with the USO, the leading nonprofit dedicated to strengthening the well-being of the people serving in America's military and their families.

MARCH 5 Dallas Quarterbacks For A Cure

Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman and 2022 NFL Man of the Year Dak Prescott are teaming up this spring for the Children’s Cancer Fund Gala, aiming to raise $2 million for pediatric cancer research and care.

It is rare that Aikman and Prescott - Dallas Cowboys' quarterback past and present - are not the star of the show. But this week the two Cowboys introduced 23 pediatric cancer patients who will model during the fashion show portion of the upcoming "Knight To Remember" Gala.

The supermodels, ranging in ages from 5-17, will walk the runway showcasing their bravery, escorted by celebrities.

On Monday afternoon, one by one, each child was called up to the stage at the Galleria Mall in Dallas and embraced by the quarterbacks. The teary-eyed crowd cheered for the courageous children, who beamed when meeting Aikman and Prescott, who just announced the birth of his own daughter "MJ."

"It's the best thing I do all year, it really is," said Aikman after the program. "What these kids have been through, what these parents have been through, it certainly pulls on your heart strings."

It's Prescott's second year serving as part of Roger Staubach’s “Quarterbacks for a Cure” program, while Aikman will be making his 25th consecutive appearance.

One of the nation’s leading fundraising groups supporting childhood cancers, CCF has donated $13 million to fund pediatric cancer research and treatment programs.
