DALLAS - Dak Prescott's future with the Dallas Cowboys remains unknown ... Including, it seems, whether he may wind up being the next highest-paid quarterback in the NFL.

As his last contractual year with the Cowboys begins - and as the NFL Draft begins on Thursday - the two negotiating partied still have yet to discuss his contract with any real definition ... and that puts in doubt his future in Dallas.

Still, he said this week he firmly believes that however the negotiations go - or don't go - he won't be too concerned with potentially getting the biggest pay-raise a QB has ever gotten. ... and maybe the biggest salary any football player has ever received.

“No, I’m not trying to be the highest paid, necessarily, We’ll wait until the negotiations begin and obviously want to put this team in the best situation.” he said.

Even with Prescott's cap hit for this coming year being $55.4 million, the Cowboys obviously aren't in any hurry to talk contract and about his future in Dallas ... a status some find mystifying as he just this last season put out one of his best years ever, finishing second in the league MVP race.

Only time will tell what the Cowboys will do or whether they'll pursue an heir to Dak for the quarterback position in this NFL Draft.
