Weather Headline: Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible today before chances cut off tomorrow. However, we are still watching the Gulf for this weekend... Read on for more details.
What we're tracking: Surface low pressure that has just about dissipated in the Dallas area this morning is expected to bring one final hurrah of scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout the southern half of Texas this morning and afternoon. Read in Next 24 Hours for timing of the rain today. As this dissipating low heads south into the Gulf the next couple days, drier air with returning high pressure overhead will settle in over the weekend bringing back the Sun. Currently over the Central Americas and Western Caribbean is a large cluster of thunderstorms to which has been going on for a few days now. There is a chance as these storms continue the next few days, a localized area of weak low pressure may develop near the area our surface low dissipated. This new area of circulation could possibly develop into a weak tropical system approaching our coast by Sunday or Monday. Tropical formation remains low, but heavy rainfall will likely as a tropical wave helps shunt the deep moisture northwards. More details on the tropics will be released as the week progresses.
Next 24 hours: Scattered showers and non-severe thunderstorms will be likely in the Crossroads this afternoon. Generally, scattered shower and storm convection will begin sometime around noontime or in the late morning, although some folks might see a couple spotty light showers in the morning hours before. Highs in the Crossroads will range between the upper 80s to the mid 90s with western counties seeing higher temps. Chance of rain today is 40%, but that dies to 10% tomorrow. The Sun returns tomorrow warming us back to the low-upper 90s under a stable atmosphere.
Extended forecast: 90s continue all week and weekend long with heat indices surpassing 100 for all each day with high humidity. Our eyes will be peeled on the tropics this weekend. See below for your 7 day Crossroads extended forecast!
