DALLAS (KDAF) — Dallas-Fort Worth is heating up, but don’t sweat it! Cities across the metroplex are stepping up with cool solutions to keep people comfortable.

Reliant Energy is teaming up with Dallas and Fort Worth to open cooling centers and give away free portable AC coolers and window units (while supplies last). They’re not just saving the day; they’re potentially saving lives, as heat is a top weather-related cause of death. To be eligible, applicants must meet certain requirements. For more information about Fort Worth’s criteria, visit the application page . In Dallas, applicants should reach out to the specific distribution sites, as advised by the city of Dallas.

Reliant isn’t just stopping at cooling centers. They’ve also donated nearly 100 cooling devices, including window AC units and evaporative cooling fans, to help those in need stay cool at home.

In Dallas , two cooling centers and AC distribution sites are already up and running, including the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center and the West Dallas Multipurpose Center. And if you’re in Fort Worth , you’re in luck! Four cooling centers with AC distribution are open daily, including Como Community Center, Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, Northside Community Center, and Worth Heights Community Center

The United Way of Tarrant County is also offering free AC units, so everyone can stay chill this summer.
