NBA Insider Names Team That Klay Thompson Is 'Very Intrigued' With

Klay Thompson is one of the biggest free agents available this offseason, and four teams are vying for his services: the Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers and Philadelphia 76ers. However, one team appears to be in the lead to land him.

According to NBA insider Chris Haynes, the Mavericks are the frontrunners for Thompson because the former Golden State Warriors star is "very intrigued" by his fit on the Dallas offense led by Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.

"If there is a frontrunner, I’m going to say it’s the Dallas Mavericks. He is very intrigued by that situation where he can be a guy that can fit in with what they do … Their offense is really stacked," Haynes shared, noting how Thompson would bring much-needed depth to the Mavs' offense.

It remains to be seen if Klay Thompson will actually sign with the Mavericks. The Lakers are heavily interested in the veteran sharpshooter as well, and the Purple and Gold have a strong connection with him as his father, Mychal Thompson, played in LA and currently works as a radio commentator for the team.

Thompson has career averages of 19.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists on 41.3 percent shooting from the field. While his game is on the decline, there's no doubt he can still contribute to any playoff contender with his experience and elite shooting.
