Klay Thompson is officially heading to the Dallas Mavericks after signing a three-year $50 million contract in what will eventually be a sign-and-trade deal with the Golden State Warriors. It marks the end of the Splash Brothers era, as Thompson leaves Stephen Curry for Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.

A little after the news was announced, Curry finally broke his silence and shared a heartfelt message to Klay Thompson on social media . Stephen Curry hopes nothing but the best for Thompson moving forward. Although they are no longer teammates, they are essentially brothers after winning five championships with the Warriors.

"Gonna miss you Klay Thompson. Even though we won't finish the journey together, what we did will never be done again. Couldn't have imagined a better run with you and Draymond Green. Changed the whole Bay Area. Changed the way the game is played. Killa Klay at the center of it all. Thank you for everything bro. Go enjoy playing basketball and doing what you do. Splash Bros 4 life my guy."

Curry and Thompson played alongside each other for 13 season in Golden State. Those two and Draymond Green helped lead the way for the Warriors to clinch five NBA championships. Klay Thompson was the Robin to Stephen Curry's Batman, as the two became one of, if not, the best shooting duo in league history.

The Warriors will now move forward without Klay Thompson in the lineup and attempt to build a contender around Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. We'll see what the front office can do, as the time frame for this franchise is rather short considering Curry is 36 years old.

As for Klay Thompson, he finds himself in a fantastic situation playing alongside Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. The Mavericks just made a magnificent run to the NBA Finals but just didn't have enough firepower to take down the Boston Celtics. Adding Thompson to the mix could be exactly what Dallas needs to win a championship next season.

With that said, last season was a bit of a downfall for Thompson. He didn't play nearly as well as we've seen him but a change of scenery might be exactly what Klay Thompson needs to get back on track. He finished the 2023-24 season averaging 17.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game.

Thompson has a real chance to elevate his game with the Mavericks next season. Doncic and Irving will take up all of the attention and that should leave guys like Thompson and PJ Walker open often. Add onto the the fact that Dereck Lively II will likely develop his game and improve next year and you have yourself a stellar starting lineup in Dallas.
