Hurricane Beryl made landfall early Friday morning, just northeast of Tulum, Mexico along the eastern shores of the Yucatan, with maximum sustained winds at 110 mph. It's moving to the northwest at 15 mph. After weakening some over the Yucatan, it will re-emerge into the western Gulf of Mexico late Friday night and have two days to strengthen over the weekend. It looks like its last landfall will be somewhere between Brownsville and Corpus Christi early Monday morning.

The Hurricane Center is forecasting this to be a Category 2 hurricane with the wind slightly less than 100 mph.

It'll take more of a northerly track and be around San Antonio late Monday and then start to bend northeast on Tuesday. The heaviest rain and tornado threats will be along and east of the center of circulation.

In North Texas, a cold front edged toward the Red River Valley Friday morning. Widespread shower and thunderstorm activity resided to the north of Dallas-Worth and extended from the Texas Panhandle through central Oklahoma. This area of showers and storms will continue to head southeast through the day. Rain could start in the immediate Dallas-Fort Worth area Friday afternoon. Severity will be low, but strong gusty winds may accompany the stronger storms. Afternoon highs will top out in the low 90s.

This front will stall to the south of DFW on Saturday. This is where scattered showers and storms will redevelop. There could be isolated storms anywhere across North Texas. Afternoon highs will approach 90 degrees.

This front will lift to the north on Sunday giving us a slight chance for an afternoon or evening storm, but most stay dry. Sunday will be the warmest day for a while with highs in the low to mid 90s.

A second cold front will arrive early Monday bringing a large cluster of storms out of Oklahoma into our area before daybreak. This usually happens when a complex of storms dives to the southeast with a northwesterly flow in the upper levels through the early morning hours.

The rest of Monday will be dry with afternoon highs in the low to mid 80s, then all eyes on the track of Hurricane Beryl.

The newest data shows the center of circulation near San Antonio late Monday. The remnants of Beryl will be close enough to DFW to give us a chance of heavy rain, especially east of Interstate 35 late Monday into Tuesday. If its track shifts to the east, very little rain will fall in DFW. The rain shield cutoff will be sharp. The remnants of Beryl will be east of us by late Wednesday, taking its rain away from north Texas.

High temperatures on Tuesday will only be in the 70s, warming into the mid to upper 80s by Wednesday. There is a slight chance of showers on Thursday with highs back in the low 90s.
