Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark played arguably the best game of her WNBA career on Wednesday night against the Dallas Wings. Finishing with 24 points and a WNBA record 19 assists, Clark was simply dominant in this game, but it was not enough to secure a victory.

Along with her historic stat line, Clark added six turnovers, including one in the clutch. With 36 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter and Indiana trailing Dallas 98-93, Clark lost the ball to Natasha Howard. The turnover essentially sealed the game for Dallas, as Indiana simply ran out of possessions after giving that one away.

Recognizing this, Clark's reaction to the turnover was heartbreaking:

A reaction like this shows a lot about Clark and her desire to win, because while her individual performance was historic, she only cared about securing the victory for her team. The loss dropped Indiana to 11-15 on the season, which has them just percentage points above the eighth seed Chicago Sky in the WNBA standings.

The top-eight teams make the WNBA playoffs regardless of conference, so Indiana will enter the All-Star break in the playoff picture. That said, this was a bad loss to a Dallas team that entered the game with the league's worst record.

Indiana will now regroup during this break in the WNBA schedule and resume play on August 16th against the Phoenix Mercury. While it was not a perfect first half of the season for Indiana, they have improved their play a lot as the season has gone on.
