One of the biggest topics of conversation throughout this NFL offseason has been the contract for Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, and where he currently stands with the team in the Lone Star State.

While Prescott wants to get paid, it appears that the Cowboys want to wait a little longer before paying him. As every day passes without an extension to his contract, the confidence that he will be in Dallas after the 2024 season is waning.

That's a sentiment that was shared by Dallas Cowboys legend Troy Aikman this week on The Pat McAfee Show, saying that he doesn't have much confidence that Prescott would want to stick around with the Cowboys should they continue to sit on their hands.

If Prescott can play well this season, though, Aikman boldly predicts that he will get paid handsomely by someone.

"I think he's gonna be the first quarterback to get to $60 million," Aikman said to McAfee. "The longer this goes, the more I think he'll be playing somewhere else. If it continues to drag on and he plays great and then the Cowboys come in late and say 'Now we wanna pay you,' I don't know where his head will be at that point."

We've seen other quarterbacks get paid in the $50-55 million per year range this offseason, with the likes of Tua Tagovailoa, Trevor Lawrence, and Jordan Love all signing new deals. Because of their desire to sit back and wait, the Cowboys will likely end up having to pay Prescott more than all of those players though, should they re-sign him.

As we get into the season and watch Prescott on the field, this will be a storyline throughout the year until more developments are seen. It certainly could make for an interesting season of storylines in Dallas.
