Jerry Jones needs to take a moment and listen to Dallas Cowboys legend Troy Aikman's latest words about Dak Prescott.

While appearing on The Pat McAfee Show on Friday, Aikman didn't hold back his thoughts on Prescott's contract situation and what could happen if the Cowboys don't jump on it ... sooner rather than later.

First, Aikman expressed his admiration for Prescott, emphasizing that the Cowboys' postseason play is the only reason why he doesn't get the same respect as guys like Pat Mahomes.

"What I respect so much about Dak; one is he's a great leader, he's a great person," Aikman said. "But he's an old school guy and he doesn't care about anything else but winning and it frustrates him beyond imagination that they haven't had more success in the postseason and it's the only thing that really keeps him from being mentioned with Pat Mahomes and some of the other greats."

He then went into how much Prescott should get paid with his new deal before diving into what might happen if the Cowboys don't act faster.

"I think he's gonna be the first quarterback to get to $60 million... and the longer this goes, the more I think he will be playing somewhere else," Aikman said. "If it continues to drag on and he plays great and then the Cowboys come in late and say 'Now we wanna pay you,' I don't know where his head will be at that point..."

Aikman makes a valid point and Dak's latest comments line up with that with him saying he's not opposed to playing elsewhere if it comes to that.

But if the Cowboys plan on breaking their postseason curse, they're going to need to keep Prescott in Dallas.

"When you look at the numbers, if you didn't have the names and you just looked at stats... wins included, you would put Dak Prescott's numbers over the past couple of years along with Patrick Mahomes," Aikman said. "But it's what happened in the postseason that's what has separated those two. That's where the whole organization has to be better. This isn't just on Dak Prescott. This goes back for the last 25-30 years that the Cowboys just have failed to play their best football when the games have mattered most in January."
