As we start preparing ourselves for some football action which will get underway in about a month with preseason games, it gives us time to chalk up some interesting narratives that may take place in the new season. The Dallas Cowboys in particular have some exciting players on their roster who could take the viewers by surprise.

Most of the Cowboys’ starters for the new season are already a lock, but it won’t come as a shock if one of the backups gives them a run for their money.

Having said that, here are four bold predictions for the 2024 Cowboys offense.

Trey Lance takes over as Cowboys starting QB by Week 11

Dallas is sure to start their 2024 season with Dak Prescott under center barring any catastrophic reasons. Replacing Prescott as the starter doesn’t look like a genuine possibility at least until the season truly gets underway.

Yet, every season brings its own share of challenges. Some players get injured and are forced to miss several games or others get benched in favor of better performing ones. Whatever may be the case, the first bold prediction comes in the form of Trey Lance becoming the starting QB for Dallas by week 11.

Why this is possible rests in the fact that Dallas has a tough schedule with games against Cleveland, Baltimore, Detroit, San Francisco, and Philadelphia prior to week 11. Should Prescott find the going tough, Lance will be waiting to get a crack at the job.

    Jake Ferguson has 1,000-yard season

Jake Ferguson improved leaps and bounds in his second season in 2023. From 174 receiving yards in his rookie season to 761 yards last year, the tight end took a giant stride forward. He was the No. 2 target for Prescott behind CeeDee Lamb and an important cog of the offensive unit.

It is safe to expect that Ferguson will continue to get better in Year 3 and that he will likely remain as the second for Prescott. This gives rise to the possibility that Ferguson may well be on his way to 1,000 receiving yards.

Deuce Vaughn becomes the Cowboys’ starting running back

Deuce Vaughn is currently the Cowboys’ No. 3 running back behind Ezekiel Elliott and Rico Dowdle. The 2023 sixth-round draft pick received very little playing time last year.

Now, as Vaughn enters his season NFL season, he could get more snaps, especially with Elliott declining in performance over the last couple of seasons and Dowdle having hardly been featured in his four years in Dallas.

If the Cowboys’ rushing game hits a snag with Elliott at the helm, look for Vaughn to make an impact with more playing time and a possible starting role.

CeeDee Lamb will win Offensive Player of the Year

Lamb is improving at a significant pace after every season. Last year, he hauled in a league-leading 135 catches for 1,749 yards that included 12 touchdowns. Topping that monumental effort is not going to be easy by any means.

Lamb, though, will continue to take strides forward and will end the season with the most receiving yards in the NFL. He will also be extra motivated to perform at his highest level with the prospect of getting paid like the other top receivers in the league.

Overall, his top-notch performances for the Cowboys in 2024 will lead to the Offensive Player of the Year Award.
