AUG 6 LB SIGNED The Dallas Cowboys are adding another linebacker to the 90-man roster with the Tuesday addition of Darius Harris, the former Kansas City Chiefs backup.

Harris, 28, has been up and down with the Chiefs since going undrafted in 2019. The 6-2, 238-pounder figures as a camp body at the moment but does have enough experience - the Chiefs poached him last winter from the Raiders practice squad so he was part of their run to the Super Bowl - to maybe help on special teams.

AUG 2 INJURIES Two notable Cowboys are unable to work here in Oxnard at training camp right now due to injury.

Of high fan interest: Deuce Vaughn is dealing with a hamstring issue, and that has kept him off the field the last couple of days. He's trying to play catchup at a running back, has taken some snaps dating back to the spring as a slot receiver, and might have value under the new kickoff rules as the "other'' return man.

Of high importance: Eric Kendricks, the vet signed to play middle linebacker, is also missing time with back soreness. The Cowboys do not see it as serious.

AUGUST 1 GOLDEN GONE Dallas is beginning its look to to add to the 90-man roster in light of the season-ending injury to Sam Williams. On Thursday here in Oxnard, Carl Lawson and three other street free agents get a tryout. (Read more here .)

In the next batch of candidates, we bet, was veteran outside linebacker Markus Golden. ... but he's now re-upped with the Steelers.

Golden, who is more of a 3-4 style player, in 16 games last season totaled 20 tackles, six for a loss, and four sacks.

He won't be a Cowboy now. But maybe somebody who can get those four sacks in Dallas will be.

Now, as he is set to return to Pittsburgh, he is projected to be more of a depth piece this coming season, as both T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith will be their starters off the edge, while Nick Herbig is seemingly next in line to see the field as their deputy.

JULY 28 QB IN The Cowboys are evaluating quarterback Reid Sinnett here in Oxnard as he was part of a tryout on Saturday.

Sinnett, a UFL standout, has spent time with several NFL teams, starting with the Bucs and including the Eagles, and most recently, with the Bengals on their practice squad.

He entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of San Diego in 2020 in Tampa Bay.

The 6-4, 225-pounder was the arm throwing to the tryout receivers, two of whom Dallas signed. (Read more below.)

JULY 21 STEPHEN HEARS YOU Does Cowboys COO Stephen Jones hear you?

On the new Scoop City podcast with Dianna Russini and Chase Daniel, Jones acknowledged fans unhappiness. And yeah, he hears you.

"There's no question,'' he said. "I understand the criticism from our fans, I understand the criticism from media. ... In terms of not winning the big game in the playoffs and we've certainly got to take that next step.

"I know we could go out there ... and have another great regular season and no one's gonna give... and they shouldn't ... no one's gonna give ... ''

No one's gonna give ... what? "Give credit,'' is what he means.

"Give a s***'' is what you might mean.

It's the right attitude, but that never won anybody a playoff game. Jones also provided an update on contract talks with Prescott , and he sounds confident that a deal will get done. You can watch the entire episode of Jones' appearance below on Youtube:

JUNE 11 TRYOUTS The Dallas Cowboys have a good recent track record with plucking talent from the UFL.

    Can they do it again?

The Cowboys on Tuesday here at The Star gave tryouts to a quartet of prospects. The fellas: former NFL first-round cornerbacks Gareon Conley and Deandre Baker and linebackers Willie Harvey and Noah Dawkins.

The Cowboys have four spots open on the 90-man roster as they prepare to move to training camp in Oxnard on July 23.
