Ezekiel Elliott shoots down popular Cowboys narrative with a quote that makes too much sense

Running back Ezekiel Elliott is enjoying every second of being back at The Star after spending one season with the New England Patriots.

Even the moments when fans are touring the facility during training camp.

But then again, Elliott hasn't really paid much mind to that aspect of being back with the Cowboys.

“Honestly, who cares if there is a tour going on when there’s meetings," Elliott said when asked about the difference between playing in New England and Dallas. "When we’re playing, there are 100,000 people in the stands. I think you gotta learn to block out the noise.”

What he has paid mind to is realizing he's a big fan of dome stadiums, something he didn't have in freezing-cold New England.

“I’ve learned I like to play in a dome stadium over playing outdoors," he said. "I think that’s about it.”

Elliott spent the first seven years of his career with the Cowboys before leaving for New England last fall and then returning to Dallas this offseason on a one-year deal.

Zeke rejoins the Cowboys following a year that showed he has plenty of left in the tank after rushing for 642 yards and three touchdowns for the Patriots in 2023.

This will be year nine for him and he's feeling really good about it.

"I feel really good in camp right now, but the goal is to feel really good Week 14, Week 17, Week 1 of the playoffs," Elliott said. "I think we're ahead right now, but this is not what's important."

Elliott's workload for his second go around with the Cowboys won't be as hefty as he last recalls since head coach Mike McCarthy plans to take the "back-by-committee" approach, which means he will share backfield carries with Rico Dowdle and Deuce Vaughn this season.
