Prepare for dense fog in Berkshire County Monday morning
The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 5:37 a.m. on Monday for dense fog until 8 a.m. for Berkshire County. "Locally dense fog has developed along rivers and within sheltered locales across the central and eastern Mohawk Valley, Capital District, northern Taconics, and Berkshires. Areas of fog will dissipate quickly following sunrise. Drivers should exercise caution when encountering rapidly changing roadway visibility, and should be sure to use low-beam headlights within areas of fog," says the weather service.
Two Berkshire Peaker Plants Have Been Put in the Past
LEE, Mass. — Two peaker plants in Berkshire County have been out of service for two years and are in the process of demolition. Local environmentalists are rejoicing. "It's phenomenal," said Rosemary Wessel of the Berkshire Environmental Action Team. "To actually see the physical proof of a peaker plant not just shut down but removed is just more than we really expected and it's really great."
Pittsfield police, clinicians respond together to deescalate mental health crises in new program
The Pittsfield police force has launched a pilot program that allows officers and a mental health clinician to respond more quickly to calls. The Joint Response Team, made up of two plain clothes officers and a mental health professional, travel together to a scene. Outside of the pilot program, clinicians travel in a separate car.
