Funeral service for 20-year-old Loch Sheldrake Lake drowning victim set for today
FALLSBURG – A funeral service for a 20-year-old Loch Sheldrake man who drowned this weekend on a Sullivan County lake will be held on Thursday. Erick Perez Alas was fishing and swimming in Loch Sheldrake Lake on Saturday when he disappeared in the water, police said. The victim was coming back to shore when he began shouting for help, but others at the lack were unable to assist Perez Alas. His body was recovered from the water on Sunday morning.

Family friend who acted as midwife found guilty in newborn baby's death
SULLIVAN CO. (WOLF) — A Sullivan County jury has convicted a woman in the death of a newborn baby who didn't receive medical care. According to Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry, Brigitte Meckes, of New York, was convicted of involuntary manslaughter, aggravated assault and related offenses for failure to summon professional medical help for an ailing newborn baby following a home birth in 2022.
