Seven Omaha business districts to get pandemic-related grants for safety lighting, bollards
OMAHA — Seven “business improvement districts” in the City of Omaha are to receive grants from the city’s allotment of federal American Rescue Plan Act funds. Proposals are set for approval this week by the Omaha City Council. Mayor Jean Stothert issued a news release outlining grants that total about $1.68 million.

Hi! My name is Ariann Anderson and I am the new host of the Omaha sound on Omaha’s NPR station, KIOS FM. Airing Saturday nights from 11 PM to 1 AM. I grew up in a musical family and have been in and around the Omaha music scene nearly my whole life and am a musician myself. I have found myself more distanced from the Omaha music community than I would like in recent years because of motherhood, busy schedules, etc. When the opportunity to host The Omaha Sound presented itself, I was nervous but I knew I was equipped. I am not quite as immersed in the Omaha music community as I once was, but I am getting back into the swing of things.

Chadron Juniors Advance in Area Tournament
The Chadron Platte Valley Bank American Legion Post 12 juniors began their postseason journey on Friday, taking down Gothenburg 5-3 to advance in the winners bracket. Chadron had an amazing display of pitching but the bats helped out getting them an early lead off a Derek Bissonette single. A pitchers duel formed as the teams traded zeros until the fifth inning when the game popped off. Gothenburg tied it up in the top of the fifth, before Chadron responded with three runs to steer clear up 4-1.

Broken Bow Spirit 18U Softball Team Finishes 3-2 at State Tournament
The Broken Bow Spirit 18U softball team competed in the Class D state tournament over the weekend in Hastings. The Spirit finished 3-2 for the tournament. Broken Bow opened play on Friday with a 6-3 win over the Nebraska Quakes 16U 6-3. On Saturday, Broken Bow fell to Ponca 8-6 but then came back with an 8-3 win over Palmyra.
