DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — The Vermilion County Coroner’s Office has identified the 12-year-old boy whose body was recovered from the Vermilion River last week.

Coroner Jane McFadden said the boy is Christopher D. London of Danville. An autopsy was performed on Saturday, but McFadden did not release the preliminary results; she explained to WCIA that she is awaiting further test results before making a final determination on the cause of death. McFadden did say that foul play is not suspected.

Gibson City man killed in weekend crash

London disappeared on July 15 while he was swimming in the Vermilion River. Two friends he was with said London was overcome by the river’s current and went under the water’s surface. He wasn’t seen alive again.

The search for London lasted for four days, all while law enforcement battled the current and obstacles at and beneath the river’s surface . On Friday, London’s body was finally found and recovered a quarter of a mile away from where he was last seen.
