    Danville PD investigating Dan River death

    DANVILLE, Va. ( WFXR )– The Danville Police Department is investigating after a body was pulled from the Dan River on Thursday, June 27.

    According to the police department, officers found 68-year-old Fred Matthew Floyd from Danville in the water behind the Carrington Pavilion unconscious and not breathing. His body was pulled from the river and he was pronounced dead a short time after.

    Floyd was tubing with others on the river when they say he got out of their sight.

    His remains have been taken to the medical examiner’s office in Roanoke for an autopsy.

    This is an ongoing investigation. WFXR News will update this story as further information is released.
