Organizers temporarily paused the 5nd Annual Fiesta del Sol due to weather on Sunday afternoon.The event in Pilsen kicked off its last day at 11 a.m. Organizers paused the festival on Sunday afternoon as wet weather moved through the area, but it picked up again after the rain passed. Man Dies After Tragic Fall at Illinois' Starved Rock State Park Near Chicago
A tragic accident took place at Starved Rock State Park late Saturday afternoon, resulting in the death of a man. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources confirmed the incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. within the Illinois Canyon area of the park, which is located roughly 90 miles southwest of Chicago. The man, whose identity has not been disclosed, sustained fatal injuries from a fall, as per the state officials.

CHICAGO (July 28, 2024) – The National Independent Soccer Association today declared the NISA Independent Cup match between Golden Ball (GB) and Georgia FC (GAFC) scheduled for Sunday, July 28, 2024, is a forfeit due to League Operations Manual violations on the part of GAFC. A man was killed in a motorcycle hit-and-run crash early Saturday in the north suburbs.The crash happened around 2:10 a.m. at 967 S. Watkins, was riding a motorcycle at a high rate of speed when he was involved in a crash with another vehicle, according to Des Plaines police.The motorcycle hit sedan that was exiting a plaza and turning onto Elmhurst Road, police said.Watkins was discovered unresponsive in the roadway when the Des Plaines Fire Department arrived, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.The driver of the other vehicle, a 2018 Ford sedan, fled the crash scene on foot, police said.A part of Elmhurst Road was closed as police continue to investigate, but has since reopened.No further information about the crash was immediately available.
