Malcolm "Mac" R. Roach

Malcolm R. Roach, 80, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 after a long battle with Alzheimer's.

Malcolm was born on October 28, 1943 in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Before he got married, he and his parents lived in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts on Brandt Beach where he loved fishing for Bass and Bluefish. He then moved to Dartmouth, Masschusetts and eventually to Ellsworth Maine with his wife Marilyn and sons Eric, and Brian.

Mac's career path led him to banking. He worked for New Bedford Institution of Savings, and then Fairhaven Savings Bank where he served as branch manager of the Dartmouth Banking Center. In Maine, he worked for Bangor Savings Bank and Seaboard Federal Credit Union as Vice President of Lending and Branch Manager.

Mac was an "outdoor guy." He loved fishing, hunting for moose (in Maine), and gardening. When he moved to Venice he, Marilyn, and his sister-in-law Barbara Flack formed a business called Yard Works where they tirelessly worked in Florida's heat trimming shrubs and doing landscaping.

Mac is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Johnson) and his children, Eric Roach (wife Julie) of Bend OR; Brian Roach (wife Nancy) of Plymouth Meeting, PA; and grandchildren, Finn, Cam, Malcolm, Doug, Freddy and James Roach; sister-in-law, Barbara Flack; niece, Gretchen Babola and nephew, Bill Flack.

He was predeceased by his father, Talcott Roach; mother, Elizabeth Roach; uncle, Henry Roach; and brothers, Fred Roach and Ben Roach. His dog, Murphy will be glad to see him again.

Mac's quiet spirit and quick wit will be missed by all who knew him.

A service to Celebrate his Life will be held at a future date.
