Two Davidson County roads will close for 5 days for pipe replacement
N.C. Department of Transportation maintenance crews will close two Davidson County roadways beginning Aug. 5 for multiple days to replace pipes underneath the roads. The work projects will take place at two southern Davidson County roads: North Main Street in Denton near Carter Lumber Plant Road, and Farmer Road in Denton near N.C. Highway 109. The work will take place over five days from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Aug. 5-9, according to the NCDOT. The work was originally scheduled for July 15-19.

LEXINGTON, N.C. — A 75-year-old woman has died after her Lexington home caught fire and exploded. According to the Davidson County Sheriff's Office, the fire was accidental. The South Lexington Volunteer Fire Department identified June Leonard as the victim of the July 5 house fire and explosion in Lexington. Her obituary said she died the following day.
