(FOX40.COM) — The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office said it has found the person who went missing in the Rollins Reservoir on Monday after falling from their jet ski.

Officials identified the man as Hashim Raza Rizvi, 49 of Davis, after locating his body on Thursday evening using “symbiotic robots.”

“The depth at which he was located was far too dangerous for any of our respective dive teams to safely retrieve him,” Incident Commander and Lieutenant Russell Greene said. “We are fortunate to have access to a variety of advanced technology, such as remote-operated symbiotic robots, that made the recovery safe and efficient.”

The technology used in the search included sonar, remote-operated symbiotic robots, and lidar scanning technology.

On Monday, just before noon, Nevada County and Placer County dispatch centers began receiving calls indicating that a man, along with two women, were on one jet ski. While driving the jet ski, the man attempted to make a turn, which threw all three people off the watercraft.

Early reports indicated that none of the jet ski’s occupants were wearing life jackets nor were any of them able to swim, but family members later confirmed to deputies that Rizvi was a good swimmer.

The sheriff’s office said Rizvi never resurfaced. The two women managed to make it to the surface but were “in distress” due to their swimming deficiencies; however, a sole paddleboarder was able to rescue them.

“We are saddened by this loss of life but are grateful our teams were able to recover [Rizvi] and bring closure to his family,” Lt. Greene said.
