Burlington’s ‘veteran’ catcher selected by Reds
Ryan McCrystal has been on rosters for baseball games in Burlington probably as often as anybody across the past few years. Now, he’s a draftee of the Cincinnati Reds. McCrystal has played four consecutive summers in Burlington, beginning with a high school state championship series and then parts of three seasons with the Burlington Sock Puppets. The catcher from East Carolina was a ninth-round pick of the Cincinnati Reds in this week’s baseball amateur draft.
Takeover BC upsets Xavier-based alumni team, Zip 'Em Up, in 1st round of TBT
CLIFTON − It was a year of firsts for The Basketball Tournament (TBT) in Cincinnati with the event making its debut at UC's Fifth Third Arena. It also marked the first time that the Xavier-based alumni team, Zip 'Em Up, will not advance past the first round after getting up Friday night by No. 7 seed Takeover BC, 91-75.

EA Sports released "College Football 25" nationwide on Friday. “So they sent us an email and form to sign asking us for our permission to use our name, image and likeness in the video game," said Corey Kiner, University of Cincinnati's running back.
Crushers slow to get going after break, fall to Florence
AVON — Call it an All-Star break hangover if you will, but Crushers manager Jared Lemieux figures his team will be back battling today. After time off for the All-Star Game on Tuesday, Lake Erie lost to Florence 6-3 on Friday night in front of 3,762 fans, one of the Crushers' larger crowds of the season.
