Police investigating crash involving sheriff’s cruiser and dirt bike

A crash involving a sheriff’s deputy in Dayton is under investigation.

At approximately 10:53 a.m., Dayton police and medics were dispatched to a crash at the intersection of W Fairview Avenue and Ravenwood Avenue.

A spokesperson from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said the deputy involved is part of the Road Patrol Headquarters.

A preliminary investigation found that a man riding a dirt bike didn’t yield while turning onto W Fairview Avenue from Ravenwood Avenue and crashed into the oncoming cruiser.

At the time of the crash, the deputy was traveling eastbound on W. Fairview Avenue, approaching the Ravenwood Avenue intersection.

The spokesperson said the dirt bike driver sustained minor injuries. He was treated and released by medics on scene.

The deputy was not injured.

The Dayton Police Department is investigating this crash.
