DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — The International Peace Museum has opened an exhibit featuring photos and memories to commemorate the 2019 Oregon District shooting.

A new exhibit is now open to showcase community recovery that followed the mass shooting on Aug. 4, 2019 in the Oregon District. Nine people were killed in the early morning hours on Fifth Street, forever changing the city and its community.

The exhibit features works from Dayton Daily News photographer Tom Gilliam and outgoing museum director Kevin Kelly. The gallery shows the direct aftermath as well as moments from Mayor Nan Whaley and Gov. Mike DeWine’s speeches at the time.

In addition, the exhibit shares moments from Dave Chappelle’s Gem City Shine concert in Dayton. The concert featured John Stewart of the Daily Show and performances by Chance the Rapper, Thundercat and Stevie Wonder.

The exhibit is set to run through September, which is the International Month of Peace.
