Daytona Beach, FL - Daytona Beach police announced the arrest of a woman for a DUI crash in January that killed a pedestrian, with evidence suggesting she was speeding and intoxicated.

Daytona Beach police arrested 24-year-old Starlett Tabares on June 15th for a DUI crash that occurred in January.

Tabares is charged with vehicular homicide and DUI causing death in connection with the incident which claimed the life of 58-year-old Mark Edward Fleetwood, a pedestrian visiting from Michigan.

According to investigators, the crash happened early on January 27th at the intersection of Seabreeze Boulevard and North Oleander Avenue.

While surveillance footage suggests Tabares may have had a green light and the pedestrian's toxicology report showed a blood-alcohol content above the legal limit, a blood test obtained later revealed Tabares' blood alcohol content was over 1.5 times the legal limit in Florida at the time of the crash.

Investigators also found evidence that Tabares' car was speeding and did not brake before impact.

Tabares was released on bond and is scheduled for arraignment in mid-July.
