DeLand woman fatally hits Eustis man, 32, in overnight crash

A crash is under investigation after a DeLand woman fatally hit a pedestrian in Lake County early Sunday morning.

The woman, who was driving a 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan, was heading westbound on State Road 44 approaching Lakeview Drive at around 3:48 a.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The 32-year-old Eustis man was walking north across the westbound travel lane, not in a marked crosswalk, in the direct path of the Tiguan, FHP said. The front of the SUV collided with the pedestrian, who was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver remained on scene; she did not report any injuries, according to FHP.
