Bedrock’s Decked Out Detroit announces it will again partner with Design Core Detroit to celebrate Detroit Month of Design in September.

Detroit Month of Design is a citywide collaboration of creativity that gathers designers and the greater community to celebrate Detroit’s role as a national and global design capital.

Every September, partners across Detroit — from emerging studios to established companies and educational institutions — come together to show off their latest works and ideas. These cross-disciplinary events take place in all corners of the city, highlighting the talent and innovation that makes Detroit a UNESCO City of Design.

In its 14th year, Detroit’s 2024 Month of Design will feature immersive design experiences including exhibitions, installations, studio visits, product launches, artist talks, tours, workshops, and parties.

The 2024 Month of Design theme, “Creative Currents,” pays tribute to Detroit’s unique legacy of artistry and innovation, while emphasizing the importance of collaboration and interdisciplinary thinking to design a better future.

“Bedrock is committed to showcasing Detroit as a must-see destination and a great place to live, work, and play. We believe the arts are a key component of this,” says Ivy Greaner, COO of Bedrock.

“Our annual partnership with Design Core is an important platform to highlight the immense talent and businesses that call Detroit home and make our city a vibrant locale filled with creativity and ingenuity.”

Bedrock’s Detroit Month of Design experiences include:

    Shop and See

For the month of September, five local artists will collaborate with five downtown businesses to exhibit custom artwork — providing visitors with an opportunity to see custom artworks as they shop uniquely Detroit wares.

Participating “Shop and See” artists and retailers:

Designed by Detroit | Jacket Giveaway

Visitors of participating Shop & See retailers can scan a QR code to enter to win a limited-edition canvas jacket designed and embroidered by Detroit artist Quinn Faylor . Winners of each of the five jackets will be selected on Tuesday, Oct. 1. For complete sweepstakes rules and information, visit DeckedOutDetroit.com .

    Shop and Sip

“Shop and Sip” is a guided tour of the five “Shop and See” art exhibits, led by Detroit influencers. The tour also serves as an exclusive shopping experience with specialty cocktails, limited, in-store promotions, gift bags and gift cards.

This year, there will be two Shop and Sip opportunities: Thursday, Sept. 12 and Saturday, Sept. 21. For ticket information and additional details, visit DeckedOutDetroit.com .

    Black Food & Wine Experience

The Black Food & Wine Experience (BFWE) will make its Detroit debut Sept. 12-14. Three ticketed downtown events will highlight the talents of Black entrepreneurs across the culinary, hospitality and beverage industries.

Founded by Aminah “Chef Mimi” Robinson-Briscoe in Oakland, California in 2016, BFWE showcases and celebrates Black excellence, and the delightful fusion of flavors and rich heritage featured in food, wine and cocktails inspired by African Diaspora.
