    WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — Bismah Ahmed – a Virginia lobbyist – and Samira Rahimi – a hand model – demonstrated henna tattooing in celebration of Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

    Henna comes from the henna plant and has been used in many South Asian, Middle Eastern and Egyptian cultures for hundreds of years.

    Many people wear henna tattoos for good blessings on their wedding day or marriage, but it can also be worn to bring in good blessings for a new year.

    Ahmed and Rahimi say that despite your background or gender anyone can get a henna tattoo.

    They also say that with the popularity of henna tattoos, you can get a henna tattoo done at most South Asian stores or bazaars.
