ARLINGTON, Va. ( DC News Now ) — The Animal Welfare League of Arlington (AWLA) is hosting a Check Their Chip Day event for dogs and cats on Thursday.

Anyone who swings by can also get a free nail trim for their pets.

On Aug. 15, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., the special event will focus on keeping pets safe and secure, AWLA said.

Cat and dog owners are encouraged to bring their furry, four-legged friends for a free microchip scan.

If the dog or cat has a microchip, AWLA will register it for free to make sure the contact information is up to date. If your pet is not microchipped, you’ll receive a $10 coupon for microchipping services at AWLA’s upcoming clinics.

“Don’t miss out on this opportunity to enhance your pet’s safety and well-being!” AWLA stated in a Facebook post.
