MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) – The state of Maryland is giving Montgomery County millions of dollars to build out its electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure. If you drive an electric vehicle, that means you’ll have more options when it comes to charging your car.

The $2.6 million grant will allow the county to install charging stations at up to 17 locations.

The sites will be on county-owned property including parking garages, libraries and community centers. One EV owner tells DC News Now this is welcoming news.

“Already I’m waiting for charging, right?” Nadeem Abbas said. “Still, I have to wait 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, I have to go there to charge. They have to put more charging points.”

The county will work with the state’s transportation department to select sites for the charging stations.
