MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — Police in Maryland are searching for the people who tried robbing a flower vendor in Montgomery County on Sunday afternoon, dragging her with their SUV.

The Maryland State Police (MSP) said troopers responded to an I-495 exit ramp near Route 650 just after 3 p.m. Investigators found that a 64-year-old woman was selling flowers along the road when the driver of an SUV called her over.

The people in the car pretended to be interested in buying flowers, but grabbed the woman’s purse instead.

As the SUV sped away, MSP said the woman was briefly dragged and fell with her purse still attached to her.

She was treated for her injuries at Holy Cross Hospital and later released.

MSP said the SUV was dark in color with D.C. license plates. Police believe at least two men were inside, one of which wore a ski mask. It was last seen headed southbound on Route 650.

The Montgomery County Police Department and MSP are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Hershberger at the Rockville Barrack at (301) 424-2101.
