HURRICANE, WV (WOWK) – A Putnam County man’s passion project has turned into a party game now sold on store shelves across West Virginia.

“Story Wars” is a new card game released in the fall of 2023. It has already sold 300 copies across the country. It was created and published by Hurricane resident Harrison Reishman.

The rules of the game are simple. Between three and ten people can play and there are three types of cards: scenario, character, and action.

In each round, one player acts as a judge and picks a prompt. The rest of the players have to create a story based on the prompt using at least one card from each category.

The judge picks the best story created each round, and the first to win five rounds wins the game.

Reishman said it takes some creativity to win.

“I don’t normally win. It’s normally the people who embrace it beyond the natural limitations of where a story can go,” Reishman said. “You can really have some fun, unhinged party game moments with your family and friends.”

You can buy the game at The Board Room store locations in South Charleston and Hurricane, as well as Taylor Books in Charleston. You can also buy it by clicking here .
