Countdown to Kickoff: Linganore Lancers

FREDERICK, M.d. (DC News Now) – The Linganore Lancers had an impressive run last season, making it to the MPSSAA 3-A state final.

However, the Lancers did lose in the state championship to their cross-town rivals, the Oakdale Bears. “After the state championship game, guys were back in the weight room the next day, the next week of school”, senior defensive tackle Alex Lambert said. The team wasted zero time preparing for the 2024 season.

Headed into the new year, the team will look a little different as the Lancers graduated quite a few starters, however, they remain confident that they are still one of the teams to beat in Frederick County.

“People are in new roles. Everyone’s embracing their new roles, new people, new faces. But it’s the same culture”, Lambert said.

But it hasn’t changed the goal of the team, preparing to make a deep run at winning a state title. “A lot of them, you know, are hungry to get out there and prove that they’re part of the football program and what we built, so it’s exciting to see them do that.” head coach Rock Connor said. “They’ve been nothing but impressive so far, to be honest with the young guys. But if we get a rotation going. I think we’ll be okay”

The Linganore Lancers will begin their season at home Friday, September 6th when they take on Wicomico.
