PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. ( DC News Now ) — Officials said three adults are without a place to live after their home in Woodbridge caught fire on Wednesday afternoon.

The Prince William County Fire and Rescue System (PWCFRS) said that, around 4:40 p.m. on Aug. 21, crews were called to the 2200 block of William Harris Way after several reports of smoke coming from a townhouse had been received.

Once crews were on the scene, they learned everyone safely escaped the blaze.

During their search, firefighters discovered the blaze in the basement and quickly put the fire out.

According to the PWCFRS, the Building Official determined the townhouse was unsafe and three people were displaced.

The Fire Marshal’s Office discovered multiple accidental possible ignition sources where the fire started, officials said.

At this time, it is unclear how much the damages will cost.

The American Red Cross is assisting the residents.
