PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — As the Prince George’s County school year comes closer, parents are looking to get or give away some clothing.

The Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD) and Jacob’s Ladder have been working together to bring clothing to those who might not be able to receive it.

“Going to school can be a very stressful time, so a lot of parents don’t have or don’t want to come out and say what they don’t have clothes,” Community Captain for PGPD, Thomas Boone, said. “We want to give them the opportunity with the clothing closet, with partners such as Jacobs Ladder say ‘hey we’re here to fill in that gap.'”

Jarriel Jordan, founder of Jacob’s Ladder agrees.

“Kids might be at the bus stops and don’t have coats walking to school,” Jordan said. “That’s when we come in and assist the community with these resources.”

Jacob’s Ladder and PGPD will be joined by The Just Us Initiative on Saturday, Aug. 24 for a school supply giveaway.
