PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — The iconic Budweiser Clydesdales were on parade at National Harbor Thursday afternoon to honor military families as part of its tour with Folds of Honor.

Dozens of people were on hand to catch a glimpse of the iconic horses. Leslie Renfro came from Waldorf, Md.

“It’s very exciting and I’ve lived here my entire life and I’ve never seen them,” Renfro said.

“It’s exciting and they are beautiful horses,” she added.

The event was also for a good cause. Budweiser has a 14-year partnership with Folds of Honor, a nonprofit organization that provides educational scholarships to families of fallen or disabled U.S. service members and first responders.

The National Harbor event means a lot to Rocky Sickmann.

He is a retired United States Marine and is one of 52 people who were held hostage in 1979 during the Iranian hostage crisis.

“It’s all about giving back. We can never bring the loved ones back if they’ve been lost – but what can do is honor their sacrifices,” Sickmann said. “And today we are honored to be here with Anheuser Busch and we wouldn’t be [where we] are with 52,000 scholarships if not for Anheuser Busch.”

A check was presented to Folds of Honor for $20,000 to provide educational scholarships to the families of fallen or disabled U.S. service members and first responders.
