    Charles County Fair coming to town, celebrates 100th anniversary

    CHARLES COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — The annual Charles County Fair returns for its 100th anniversary this September, and fairgoers can cash in on special deals.

    The fair will be held at 8400 Fairgrounds Road in La Plata from Thursday, Sept. 12, through Sunday, Sept. 15.

    Established in 1924, the fair highlights the county’s rich agricultural history and celebrates the community with livestock exhibits, pig races, pony rides, live music, food vendors, games and more.

    People of all ages can also enjoy carnival rides, from more leisurely rides to attractions that circle, drop and spin.

    For rides suited for little ones, families with small children can explore the kiddie midway near the south gate.

    University of Maryland students begin moving in as semester starts back up

    Since the fair is celebrating 100 years, Rosedale Attractions will be offering ride specials, according to t he Charles County Fair website .

    On opening day (Sept. 12), fairgoers can buy one $20 wristband to ride any rides for the entire evening.

    On the last day of the fair (Sept. 15), riders can buy a $35 wristband to ride all the rides. School-aged children can ride for $30 upon receiving a coupon from Charles County Schools.

    General admission for those ages 11 and over is $10. Children under 10 are free, and four-day passes are $25. Fairgoers can purchase tickets at the gate, and on-site parking is free.

    All school-aged children will be admitted for free on Friday, Sept. 13, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
