    Heat emergency activated in the District

    WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser announced that a heat emergency will be in effect in the District on Wednesday, Aug. 28.

    This activation comes as temperatures are expected to surge to 100 degrees across the DMV on Wednesday afternoon.

    “Remember: Stay hydrated, limit sun exposure, and check on seniors, neighbors, and pets,” said Bowser in an X post.

    Those needing refuge from the heat can contact the shelter hotline at 202-399-7093 or 311. In emergencies, residents should call 911.
