John Deere purchases 234 acres of land in Northwest Indiana
LOWELL, Ind. — John Deere has purchased 234 acres of land in Northwest Indiana, according to a press release from Coldwell Banker Commercial Realty. The bank’s release indicates the agriculture equipment manufacturing giant bought the parcel for $7 million. The bank reported that John Deere plans to build a 1.2-million-square-foot warehouse and distribution facility on the plot.

North Judson Man Injured in Accident
A North Judson man was injured in an accident that occurred Tuesday, July 2 just before 9 p.m. CT in the area of Range Road and 500 South. According to the Starke County Sheriff’s Office, it was determined that a 2020 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by 50-year-old Kenneth Ratzlaff, of North Judson, was traveling east on 500 S. when he reportedly failed to stop at the stop sign and pulled into the path of a silver Hyundai Elantra, driven by 22-year-old Elizabeth Krueger, of Knox. CPCSC Welcomes Chris Gabriel as Assistant Principal of Col. Wheeler MS
Crown Point Community School Corporation is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Gabriel as the new assistant principal of Colonel Wheeler Middle School. Mr. Gabriel will join the district after leaving Union Center Elementary School, where he served as principal since 2021. Prior to this, he was the principal of Wanatah Public School and also served as assistant principal and athletic director at Kouts Middle/High School. Mr. Gabriel is returning to our district, having previously worked in CPCSC as a technology education teacher at Colonel Wheeler Middle School from 2007-2016. He also coached JV baseball and middle school wrestling. Mr. Gabriel is a graduate of Merrillville High School, earned his teaching degree at Purdue University, and completed his Masters Degree in Educational Leadership at the American College of Education.

Indiana DOT Schedules Hearing for U.S. 231 and Parrish Ave. Roundabout
St. John, IN – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has announced a public hearing to discuss the proposed construction of a roundabout at the intersection of U.S. 231 and Parrish Ave. The hearing will take place on Thursday, July 11, at St. John Town Hall, located at 10955 W 93rd Ave. An open house for questions will start at 5 p.m., followed by a formal presentation at 6 p.m.
