‘Katie’s Mom’: Dina Meyer Comedy Lands U.S. Distribution Deal

EXCLUSIVE: Premiere Entertainment has licensed Katie’s Mom starring veteran actress Dina Meyer to ITN Distribution for North America. DirecTV will have the exclusive pre-release on September 1 with ITN releasing the film digitally on all platforms in November.

The film is described as a “steamy relationship comedy”. The film also stars Aaron Dominguez ( Only Murders in the Building ) and Julia Tolchin ( Life & Beth ). The story follows a recent divorcee (Meyer) whose holiday celebration with her adult children derails when she falls for her daughter’s charming new boyfriend (Dominguez).

Katie’s Mom is Tyrrell Shaffner’s feature directorial debut. They co-wrote the original screenplay with Meryl Branch-McTiernan. Shaffner and Branch-McTiernan produced the film for Ex Files Productions alongside Corey Moss. Sandy Cleary, Dina Meyer, Kristin T Higgins, Jimmy Velissaris, Milan Chakraborty, and Sanjay Sharma served as executive producers.

“May/December romances from a mature woman’s POV have been having a moment recently, which demonstrates a thirst for sexy women-centric stories like ours. We are pleased to be a part of this exciting trend, which we’ve christened ‘Hot Mom Summer,’” Shaffner said.

Branch-McTiernan added: “After a year-long successful festival run where audiences have been audibly invested in our main character’s journey, we are thrilled to share Katie’s Mom with a wider audience.”

Premiere CEO Elias Axume negotiated the deal on behalf of the production with Stuart Alson of ITN. Premiere is handling international sales on the title.
