The driver in a fatal car crash in west Dearborn on July 19 was driving at a speed in excess of 100 mph when she failed to stop at an intersection's traffic light, the Dearborn Police Department said.

On the morning of July 19, a 26-year-old woman from Taylor driving an SUV sped through a traffic light at the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Nowlin Street and struck a Ford F150 truck, killing the driver.

The Taylor resident was transported to a local hospital by the Dearborn Fire Department, where she remains hospitalized as of Wednesday.

The 33-year-old victim, Ghada Mustapha, was a doctor, wife and mother of three. She worked as a family physician at the Corewell Health Taylor Hospital, a Corewell Health spokesperson confirmed, and graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School, according to WebMD . The Islamic Center of America, which arranged her funeral services, confirmed Mustapha's identity.
