Court says workers’ compensation law provides SAC with immunity from tower site electrocution lawsuit
The Eleventh Circuit, a federal court with appellate jurisdiction over the district courts in Alabama, Florida, and Georgia, on Wednesday, declined to renew a lawsuit against SAC Wireless LLC by a crane oiler who was electrocuted and seriously injured while helping remove a crane from an American Tower site in Georgia.
WWALS to host webinar on Georgia bats in Banks Lake, Douglas
HAHIRA – WWALS will host a webinar with a Wildlife Biologist from the state to give an overview on the bats of Georgia. WWALS Watershed Coalition will be hosting a webinar about the bats of Georgia that will include Banks Lake and Douglas. Emily Ferrall, a Wildlife Biologist, in the Wildlife Resources Division of the Wildlife Conservation Section of the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (GA-EPD) of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (GA-DNR), will give an overview of the bats of Georgia, including species likely to occur at Banks Lake, and she has footage of the Douglas warehouse bats to show. She will mention the acoustic volunteer program.
17-year-old charged with murder after killing stepdad in Columbus, officials say
COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - A 17-year-old is behind bars after allegedly killing his stepdad in Columbus. On July 25, at 10:46 p.m., Columbus police officers say they responded to a residence near the 700 block of Parkhill Dr. in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers say they discovered a male, 38-year-old Evan Garner with no signs of life.
