    18-year-old hurt in weekend Decatur shooting: Police

    DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — The Decatur Police Department is investigating after an 18-year-old was shot over the weekend.

    Department officials said the shooting Saturday happened near Nelson Boulevard and U.S. Route 36. Officers responded at 2:12 p.m. for a report of shots being fired; they found multiple shell casings at the scene. Soon after, an 18-year-old male arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound to the ankle.

    The victim is expected to be ok. He told officers that he was sitting in the passenger seat of a car when he was shot, but provided few other details.

    The cause of the shooting is unknown and so far, no one has been arrested yet. The investigation is ongoing.
