    Decatur Police investigating after shots fired at woman

    DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — The Decatur Police Department is looking for two people who fired shots at a woman after she may have thwarted their attempt to break into her home.

    Department officials said the shooting happened at Monroe and Cushing Streets near 11:11 p.m. on Friday. As the woman was returning home in her car, she saw two Black men near her fenced backyard. She suspected that they were trying to break into her home.

    When the men saw the woman drive up, officials said they ran away, but not before one of them fired multiple shots at her. The bullets missed the woman, but hit her car and her home.

    No arrests have been made yet and the investigation is ongoing.
