Kelly Ripa Suggests She And Mark Consuelos Have “Separate Bathrooms” After Ranting About His “Irritating” Flossing On ‘Live’

Kelly Ripa made some noise about Mark Consuelos ‘ “irritating” flossing on this morning’s Live with Kelly and Mark .

Ripa’s revelations emerged after some ribbing from Consuelos, who said he does his best thinking while he’s brushing his teeth.

“I noticed that when you floss your teeth, it makes a cavernous sound,” she shared, acknowledging, “this is off-topic,” but noting that she was only reminded of this by Consuelos mentioning brushing his teeth.

Consuelos asked, “What do you mean by cavernous sound?”

Ripa claimed that the sound he makes are “so irritating,” eventually imitating the noises he allegedly makes while doing so. Although Consuelos insisted that he’s “doing it right” and “getting in there,” Ripa continued her silly rant, explaining that his gum chewing is also “very irritating.”

“Did you see the other day when I got up and went into the other room? You were like, ‘Can I sit next to you?’ And I was like, ‘Sure.’ And you took out a stick of gum, and you started chewing it. And I got up — I didn’t say anything — I just got up and I went into the other room and I turned on the news in there,” she recalled. “Because I was like, I can’t focus because you’re making that cavernous sound with your mouth.”

Instead of taking the criticism to heart, Consuelos hilariously adopted it as a “note to self.”

“When I want to clear the room and watch what I want to watch,” he teased, pretending to pop gum in his mouth.

Ripa quipped, “I’m glad we have this safe space to air this all out.”

Despite the open discussion, Consuelos said, “I will change a few things, but I will not change the way I floss.”

“I’m putting my foot down,” he added amid laughter. “Look at these teeth, these gums.”

Ripa noted that her husband-turned-co-host’s teeth are “gorgeous,” but made a proposal that he should floss in one of their kids’ rooms.

“We should finally have separate bathrooms,” she teased.

Consuelos then attempted to reenact what that may look like, joking, “Yeah, one of the kids is like, ‘Dad, what are you doing in my room?'” ‘Flossing, shhh! Don’t tell Mom, I’m taking care of my gums!'”

Ripa told viewers that she plans to record Consuelos’ flossing for evidence.

“We’ll put up a poll: What percentage of Americans find this extremely aggressive and irritating? And we’ll just see the 100% vs. the 0%,” she added.

Nonetheless, Consuelos teased that “irritation is a two-way street.”

“If you want to play that game, we can play it,” he said. “I’ll be like Francis Ford Coppola .”

Ripa still expressed her doubts.

“Here’s the thing, he won’t. He won’t capture any of it. He doesn’t take pictures or videos, so none of that will happen,” she elaborated. “But I, on my end, will be watching you.”
