NIACC To Offer A Training Program for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities
Starting this fall, North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) will offer the EDUCATE (Education, Career, and Training Experience) program, which will provide an inclusive and supportive environment for students with intellectual disabilities. EDUCATE is a four-semester post-secondary education program that will empower students by offering personalized academic support, career preparation, life skills development, and social opportunities The curriculum for each student will be individualized to incorporate the approved core classes of the program, as well as approved electives that are in the student’s area of interest.

U.S. Coast Guard Reopens Mississippi River To Boaters, Still Recommends Staying Off The Water
The United States Coast Guard has changed its stance and is now allowing recreational boating on the Mississippi River, but still recommends boaters stay off the water. In their most recent update, the Coast Guard changed from prohibiting to now Strongly Discouraging boating on river in the Dubuque pool and all others still experiencing flooding conditions. In a message on the Coast Guard social media, they say after speaking to port partners and government agencies along the river, they are no longer prohibiting recreational boating in the pools in the High Water Action Phase at this time however recreational boating is now strongly discouraged.
Bluejays Season Ends in Grinnell
The 2024 high school baseball season for Perry finished on Friday night after a 4-0 loss to Grinnell in the opening round of Class 3A Substate play. The top seeded Tigers were at home and they improved to 26-11 after scoring single runs in the first and sixth innings, and putting two on the board in the fourth.
