Girls basketball: Norskies moving into the Badger Large

Cross country: DeForest, Waunakee runners receive all-conference honors
Runners from Waunakee and DeForest received all-conference honors from the Badger Large Conference recently. The Norskies’ Taylor Bussiere and Mj Nelson were selected for the girls’ All-Badger Large First Team, along with the Warriors’ Cianna Wipperfurth. Quinn Aulik, Emma Hermansen and Rylan Oberg made the second team, as did Waunakee’s Emily Berger and Megan Collins. For the boys, DeForest’s Elijah Pabon, Lucas Tanner, Easton Tiedt and Wyatt Parker were all named to the All-Badger Large First Team, with Waunakee’s Cooper Ubert joining them. Three DeForest runners also were named to the second team, including Jacob Lefever, Carter Meyers and Logan Davison.
Girls golf: DeForest's Henriksen receives all-conference first team honors
Waunakee’s Izzi Stricker and Jordan Shipshock were joined by DeForest’s Abby Henriksen on the All-Badger Large Conference First Team for girls’ golf. Making the second team were Waunakee’s Georgia Volley and DeForest’s Brinley Goninen.
Volleyball: DeForest, Waunakee players receive all-conference honors
Three Waunakee players were named to the All-Badger Large Conference First Team for volleyball, while Rylee Vinney represents DeForest on the second team. Summer Grigg, Morgan Van Wie and Anneka Cassel were named to the first team for the Warriors. Fort Atkinson’s Andi Spies was named the Badger Large Player of the Year. Vinney was joined on the second team by Waunakee’s Sadie Grabarski. Warriors Cora Webster and Lily Follen received honorable mention, as did DeForest’s Abbi Prusakiewicz.
Boys soccer: DeForest, Waunakee players receive all-conference honors
Waunakee and DeForest were well-represented on the 2023 All-Badger Large Conference boys’ soccer teams. The Norskies placed unanimous selection Blake Lovick and Eli Engel on the first team, along with goalkeeper Tucker Schmidt. The Warriors’ Alex Nelson also was picked for the first team, while teammates Max Miller and Jack Burville were named to the second team, along with DeForest’s Caleb Brandl and Owen Kramar. Among those receiving honorable mention were DeForest’s TJ Taylor and Waunakee’s Carter Allison and Lukas Dogru.

Two-time individual state champion Izzi Stricker, from Waunakee, has been named the Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin Co-Player of the Year for 2023. Stricker, who won her second state individual title this season, was selected as GCAW Co-Player of the Year along with Westosha Central’s Kylie Walker. Stricker’s Warrior teammate, Jordan Shipshock, also received GCAW First Team All-State honors. Meanwhile, DeForest freshman Abigail Henriksen was named to the GCAW All-State Second Team.
