An Outdoorsman’s Journal: Howe's the fishing?
Hello friends, Before I go any further with this week's column, I would like to thank all of the good people that sent me emails and texts after the column that my daughter Selina wrote as well as the one I wrote about Selina. I would have to say that Selina's column was one of the top two or three with readers in the last 34 years. We speak every day, and she truly has become a woman of the Rocky Mountains. ...

According to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the state brings in roughly 3.8 billion dollars annually from fishing. This revenue includes everything from license...

Wrestling: Bonds of friendship
They grew up just down the road from each other and met in daycare. Friends ever since, DeForest wrestlers Lucas Evans and Tucker Schmidt are also competitive. Once upon a time, they wrestled in the same weight class. That lasted about three years. Evans is quick to point out that he had the better record, but Schmidt noted he won the last match between them. “We treat each other more...

An Outdoorsman's Journal: Sketchy Ice
Hello friends, I have all the right tools to be doing some heavy-duty ice camping/fishing this winter and unfortunately keeping good ice has made ice travel (at least coming home alive) a bit of a challenge. One of my newest toys is the Ion "Alpha" and mine is with a 10-inch auger. Last winter I used an Ion for the first time and was amazed at how easy and quiet...
